I was suddenly jolted out of my reverie.
“Hey you! We are talking to you only! What, you think you
come from heaven or something?”
I frowned. I am somehow unable to recall my bearings. Where am
I? Who is this woman who is talking to me?
Another woman in an identical saree addressed me, “Your
highness, we were asking you why you are here?”
Oh, yeah. Suddenly, it all comes back to me.

“Harish, do we really need to go through this? We can try
again maybe? Nine months lying on a bed is not a joke!”
“You think having a child is a joke?! And here you are
thinking of getting rid of my baby simply because you can’t suffer a little?! What
kind of a mother are you?”

“Mrs. Saxena, you would need to go through intense
physiotherapy to regain your movements and strength. And please, do take rest.
You need it.” Dr. Reddy said.

“Isn't a month long enough to recuperate? She needs you! And I've to get back to work!”, Harish cried.

She seems to enjoy this. I wish somebody gave me a bath like
this.
When was the last time I had slept? Oh yes, two days ago. This
backache is just slowly killing me, or whatever is left of me after she came
out of me.
She.
She should never have been here. But like a vampire, she is
sucking me dry.

“What have you
done?!!”
I could see a myriad of emotions wash over his face, as he
saw me sitting right next to our floating daughter in the bathtub.
“You see Harish... this is what I’ve been trying to tell you
all this time... I never really wanted her.”
